Gistics research project for NewMedia 500
I partnered with Larry Byram and Gistics to do a predictive trend analysis research project. We were looking at the terrain of multimedia convergence, and we built a model predicting which 500 new media companies would acquire which other companies. We pulled data from Hoovers and D&B to build a statistical model, then mind-mapped the relationships and predictive trends in a visual chart sold by NewMedia Magazine as the NewMedia 500 poster.

NewMedia magazine’s NewMedia 500 poster was honored with a prestigious Maggie Award for Best Promotion of 1998.
The NewMedia 500 poster is a bold infographic that maps convergence among the most influential companies operating in digital media today. The Maggie Awards, produced by the Western Publications Association (WPA) to recognize excellence in design and editorial among print publications, were announced at a gala ceremony on Friday, April 23 in Los Angeles.
“The NewMedia 500 poster is one of our most successful annual promotions,” said Richard Landry, chairman and CEO of NewMedia magazine. “And that’s because it addresses one of our readers’ critical overriding needs — namely, to stay current. The digital media market is evolving at a dizzying rate, and the NewMedia 500 poster provides a succinct visual depiction of the convergence of technology and information businesses at its core.”
